Will my insurance pay for an endoscopic bariatric revision procedure?

Unfortunately, Insurance companies usually will not cover bariatric procedures. Depending on the insurance company the reasons given range from considering the procedure to be experimental or investigational, determining the procedure is not medically necessary or even in some cases, determining the procedure is cosmetic in nature.

When bariatric surgery benefits do exist, they are extremely difficult to meet and approval for payment is a challenge, if not an impossibility.  For this reason, we have elected to perform these procedures only as a self-pay procedure.  This decision was reached based on extensive efforts to collect payment from insurance providers.  If you elect to have your endoscopic weight loss procedure performed by us, it will be a self-pay procedure as we do not and will not participate with insurance (before or after the procedure) for these cases.
